The JOY of NOTHING

Hi Everyone, Do you see what I see? How about here .. . ... or here? Yep, that's right - NOTHING!   Oh how I love it when I can have the house all picked up and it can  actually stay  that way for more than 30 seconds!   It does wonders for my sense of peace and I can feel a wave of calmness  wash over me.  For me, it's better than a massage I tell you! I have always liked things to be in order, uncluttered.   My mind feels cluttered and chaotic when my surroundings are a mess. Even as a child, if I went to a friends house and their playroom was  messy I would clean it up! Their parents must have thought I was such a weird kid ~  but for some reason , they kept inviting me back! I adore my kids, but now that they are back in school,  I can have a picked up house for at least a small portion of the day... it's the best therapy for me to recharge and be ready to see those wonderful faces again! Thanks so much for visiting and listening . . . what do you do to rel

Farmhouse With a Modern Edge

Hi Everyone, Sometimes I find myself drawn to farmhouse architecture that has a bit of a modern edge.  I think maybe it appeals to my sense of order, organization, everything in its place.  The modern farmhouse has more of a clean line look and a little less fussiness... ~ see what you think ~ source source source source source                                                                                          Do any of these homes appeal to you? Are you saying...."ooh, aah" or......."yucky, blucky"? In reality, I think I need a little more fuss, a little more of the cozy feeling that traditional farmhouses evoke, but still, there is something about this style that catches my eye. I can't quite put my finger on it.    Do you know what it is?       ..... joining ..... LaurieAnna's Vintage Home

Questions and Thank You's

............................................................. ..................................................................... Thank you all for your nice comments about my foyer. I feel very lucky and blessed to be a little part of this blog world where we can share our passions and encourage each other! You are all so sweet and kind ~ it's a wonderful thing!! To answer a couple questions, my foyer light is from Ballard Design. I had been thinking about it for awhile and at one point they actually had it on sale so I had to get it. The paint color is Country Mist from Behr (480E-1). It is a nice, soft color and I have been really happy with it. It is one shade lighter than Tide Pools that I have in  the living/family room. A big Thank You also to LaurieAnna at LaurieAnna's Vintage Home   for featuring my Farmhouse Style post!                                                                       Join LaurieAnna for Farmh

Entry & Foyer Tour

Hi Everyone, I would like to show you our foyer and hallway today. This picture is taken from the front porch so this is what you see when you enter our home. Come on in! I actually have two of these little benches. This one is just right for this little space. I have it decked out for summer ~ I usually change out the accessories for the seasons and holidays. The doorway to the kitchen is just past the bench. To the immediate right is the powder room. Straight ahead is our living/family room. The hallway to the right takes you to  our master bedroom. {Old pictures of myself, my parents, and my husband's parents.} Looking back, you see the staircase to the mysterious and scary second floor! Okay, not really mysterious but it is a  little scary. The second floor has not been remodeled yet. It has three bedrooms and a very tiny bathroom. We hope to start that project in the next year or two. Maybe one day, I'll be brave enough to show it

FARMHOUSE STYLE
