Hi Everyone,

I'm so happy to welcome Susi from Design Shuffle today.
She is sharing a post about farmhouse mudrooms.
You will find some great tips and gorgeous photos!

Hi, I'm Susi, a writer at Design Shufflea community for interior designers,
home decorators and other design professionals.
I love that I get to visit fantastic design blogs like A Pocketful of Blue
and share inspiration and interior design ideas.

This week I'm writing about my favorite farmhouse mudrooms.
Mudrooms are a great room in farmhouses and older homes.
The perfect place to take off wet boots and hang a coat,
these utilitarian rooms are often overlooked and under-designed.
I'm sharing eight of my favorite farmhouse mudrooms to show that
a little bit of design can go a long way in the mudroom.

 Enjoy!

Country Design
Love the upcycled crates turned into shelves in this farmhouse mudroom.
The mix of natural woods gives a charming rustic feeling to the room.

  Country Design
Batten and board molding give this farmhouse mudroom architectural interest.
Love the stone floor that can stand up to high traffic and muddy paws.

  Country Design
Perhaps it is the Aussie that gives this farmhouse mudroom so much charm,
but I love all the built-in storage.
Brick floors add an old farmhouse charm, as do the oversize hooks on the wall.

  Country Design
Traditional interior design elements, like a glass lantern and oriental style rug,
give this farmhouse mudroom tons of elegant style.
An indoor/outdoor rug is a great idea for high traffic areas like mudrooms.

  Country Design
River rocks make for an interesting floor in this farmhouse mudroom.
I love the drab green-gray paint. Cubbies for shoes keep them out of the way.

  Country Design
A row of pegs under a shelf provides plenty of space to hang coats and scarves
while drawers under the bench can store smaller objects.
Love the mix of the wallpaper pattern, bench fabric, pillow, and area rug.

  Country Design
Here, you will find lots of decorating ideas packed into one tiny space.
Wainscoting and a picture ledge create a nice architectural detail in this small mudroom.
Pegs for hats, bags and jackets are simple yet effective storage. Stripes add pattern and color to the space.

  Country Design
Absolutely love the yellow color on the custom built-in wall unit in this farmhouse mudroom.
The curves add interesting lines and shape. So charming!

Thanks Susi for sharing your favorite Farmhouse Mudrooms with A Pocketful of Blue this week!

A Corner of My Room

Today I made a little change to a corner of our master bedroom.

I had a wicker chair here but it really seemed too large for the
space and I never sat in it anyway.
So I took this smaller chair from our living room and this bench from
the kitchen.
Played around with the accessories and now I think it looks really sweet
and fits the space much better.
I always love when a little change can have a big impact on a room, don't you?

(And I had to light the candle for you of course! : )

I bought this little book at a garage sale recently for $2.50.
Isn't the cover pretty with the little blue flowers?
The lady I purchased it from said she bought it years ago at an antique
store in Marietta, Ohio.  I was so surprised because that is the
town I was born in!

I've had this lantern for a long time but hadn't found a good spot for it until now.

Now I just have to work on the family room and kitchen where I took these things from ~
it never ends, does it?
That's okay with me ~ I love every minute of it!!

I hope you're having a wonderful week!
If you have a spare moment, I would love to hear from you ~
your visits and comments are sincerely appreciated!!

A Touch of Fall

Hi Everyone,

Are you in the mood for Fall decorating yet?
I know a lot of you have already started and I've seen
some really pretty Fall inspiration from a lot of you!

This is how our foyer looked over the spring and summer.

When I found this coat rack at Homegoods recently,
I thought it would look great for Fall so that
was my starting point.

And this is our foyer now.

{You can see "The Blog Boss" there in the corner supervising :}

I love how the deep red looks with the light blue on the walls.
When I saw the red pears at the grocery store, I thought they
would be the perfect thing for the two pots.  I nestled them
in some spanish moss.

I already had this "Welcome" sign and I thought it went
well with everything else.

Okay, "The Boss" is giving me the "evil eye" so I guess
 I better wrap this up!
He says you have all had enough of my "yammering"!  : )
I'm sure that's not true though, is it?

I liked how adding the scarf gave it that warm, cozy feeling
I think we all start craving this time of year!

So have you done any Fall decorating yet?
Maybe this will help put you in the mood if you
haven't yet!!

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I love sharing these things
with you ~ believe it or not, not everyone gets as excited
about finding the perfect color mum or the just right
 accessory as we do!!

Her New Room

When did it happen?

My little toddler with the sweet curls at the
nape of her neck...

...became a beautiful girl on the verge of
becoming a young woman?

A sweet girly room with pastel blue, pink and
 ruffles would no longer do!

So this is her room now - more grown up,
 brighter colors, cooler stuff!

Lots of kitties!

I love it and we had so much fun putting it all
 together...

...it just goes so fast!

But I have all of the wonderful memories and so many more to look forward to!

{love you honey bunches of oats}

All of the furniture is from Ikea and it's great!

The bed has a trundle and the dresser has huge, deep drawers ~
it's awesome!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit!

More Farmhouse in the Bathroom

A while back I posted about adding farmhouse style to our master bathroom.
You can read about that here if you so desire : }

I have changed the accessories on the little table I have in there
and I think it gives it a more "farmhouse" feel.

~ ~ see what you think ~ ~

I found this pretty jewelry tray and the galvanized bucket at Joann Fabrics.

As you can see, my hubby throws his
 loose change in here.

This sounds silly, but I was so happy to find a box
of tissue with a color and pattern that I like.
Sometimes it's just the little things, right?

A basket for towels on the bottom shelf.

It's always nice to have a change even if
 it's just a little one.

Thanks so much for taking a look!

I hope you're having a wonderful day!!

BEAUTIFUL LIGHTING

~ I have seen some beautiful lamps and chandeliers in blogland this week ~

~ finding a wonderful lamp or chandy can really make a difference in a room ~

Look how pretty this one looks especially with the
ruffled shade ~ Martina @ Northern Nesting
found the perfect spot for it in this sitting area!

Kate @ Kate's Place found this sweet and delicate alabaster lamp at a garage sale.
It did have a broken piece but after a quick fix you would never know!

I'm loving this country french lamp that Kim @ Savvy Southern Style
found at an antique mall ~ so many pretty details!

Add caption
Kim also shared with us her gorgeous
new chandelier in her dining room ~
isn't it just beautiful?

Here is my favorite light in our house ~ it hangs over our kitchen
table.  We've had it for about 2 years and I still really love it!

So many choices for lighting out there and yet it can still be difficult to find
the one that is just right . . . but when you do, it can make all the difference!

HAVE A WONDERFUL, FUN, AND SAFE LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!
