Boxes and Baskets Christmas Tree

Hi Everyone,

I recently saw THIS POST about a Christmas tree made with
old toolboxes and crates.  I thought it was soooo cute and thought
I could make something similar with some of my old boxes and baskets.
Here is what I came up with.

I think it turned out kind of cute.
I placed it in this formerly plain and boring corner near our back sliding doors.

I love how quick and easy it was too.
The basket I used as one of the layers did give me fits though
since it is not completely flat so it was making the "tree" lean to one side.
A little bit of maneuvering and I finally got it to stand up straight.

I topped it with a mini tree.

I found this jingly bell star at Joann's the other day
and attached it to the (unruly) basket.
It fits in well with the rustic look.

So there you have it.
A quick and (mostly) easy tree made from boxes and baskets.
And don't you love when you can use things you already have?
The only thing I purchased was the star ornament.

It turned this plain corner into something a little more magical.

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season
and keeping it all simple and easy.
That is what I'm trying to do - ha ha!

Thanks a bunch for visiting!

  3. So smart and so wonderful, simplicity. Seems am hearing more and more people trying to keep decorating and season simple so can enjoy it.
A year ago yesterday had my right shoulder replaced so no holiday high jinx for me. Whatever had dome before surgery had to be it. Was busy with physical therapy and home health coming to check on one thing and another. Luckily didn't have to have rotator cuff replaced, that's whole other problem. Anyway, keeping things simple really struck a chord with me, decided from then on to keep season simple and whole lot less stress on me. Started to get off track and stopped right away, put things away, realized wasn't necessary for me to do that to myself, hubs and family, nope. Almost feel guilty but not too, lol. Doesn't look like we'll have tree but that's ok, our living room is small so with other decorations have done it's enuf. Have our tomato cage tree with lights on it out on porch, works for me. It's not so much the decorating and making, it's organizing and putting away after holidays that gets to me more. Have you ever felt that way?
Fact is hubs and I getting older, time to give ourselves a break.
Your little tree is awesome, fills a need and looks so cute, enjoy.

  11. I love it! It looks great in that corner. The different textures of each piece and the subtle neutral colors are so warm. I made a similar tree from luggage with an angel snowlady on top. It is fun to use everyday items for unique, but simple Christmas decorating.

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th
