PRETTY PEONIES

I think one of the best parts of early summer is when the peonies bloom. Don't you just adore this flower?   ~  so delicate and beautiful ~ I couldn't resist taking pictures of them outside  on a beautiful day.   I think you will agree . . . . . .  one of nature's most perfect gifts .  Have a lovely weekend everyone!

THE MASTER BEDROOM THIS YEAR

I have made some little changes in our master bedroom  that I haven't shown you. I wasn't sure when I last posted about this room so when I checked  it out, it just so happens that it was in May of last year. Maybe I should call this "My Annual Master Bedroom Post." ~ so here it is now ~ The sun was shining in so beautifully the day  I took these pictures. ~ a few accessory changes ~ I found these plates for above the headboard on Ebay. The biggest change is probably swapping out the chair I had in here for my white wicker rocker.  I think it gives the room more of a  cottage feel. So now you're all caught up on the master bedroom ~ I know you've just been waiting in anticipation ~ ha ha! A Few Memories From Washington DC

I ran across some photos from our trip to Washington DC in 2007. It seemed appropriate to share a few of them today. A SMALL SHOPPING SPLURGE

World Market always seems to carry a lot of things that I like  especially kitchen items.    A couple weeks ago they had a coupon for 25% off of everything so I decided to treat myself and make a few small purchases. ( btw ~ this is not a paid post ~ just sharing some things I like ) I've always thought these Weck jars were cute so I put one of these in my basket. They come in different sizes and this is the largest one. I love all kinds of jars and the fact that they have so many uses. ( It actually comes with an orange rubber ring around the top but I removed it ) sale price $4.49 Another purchase was this measuring cup. I like its unusual shape and the graphics on the front and inside.  sale price $3.74 Isn't this cake plate adorable with its scalloped edge? It comes in three sizes and this is the smallest.  sale price $7.49 I also picked up one of these chair cushions for my black rocking chair. I really like the color and tex

MY SON'S NOTHIN' FANCY BEDROOM

We recently updated our 16 year old son's room. It really needed a paint job and just freshened up. Nothin' fancy. No planked walls or chevron designs. He's actually very sentimental and likes to be surrounded by the things he loves and that have good memories for him. His favorite sports teams, Star Wars, Legos, books, maps from his favorite video games are just a few of the things he has loved over the years.   don't get me started ~ the tears will start to roll   He informed me that he likes modern design. Really? such a traitor : ) So I tried to incorporate a lot of white with his traditional furniture to give it a more modern feel. We purchased his dresser and beds when he was 5 years old. The beds were originally configured as bunk beds. At one point, I mentioned to him that maybe we could look for different bedroom furniture that would be more modern. He said "I think my furniture is fi

LITTLE "FLOWERS" SIGN

Here's a quick little project I did the other day. The starting point came from a decorative box I had, you know, the heavy cardboard kind. Most of the box had a really busy pattern so I wasn't that crazy about it but I loved the pretty design on the front flap of the box. So I cut that piece from the box and then printed the word "FLOWERS" on regular paper using our printer.  I like the papyrus font so I used that and played around with the font size until I got what I wanted. Then I just used the very scientific method (haha) of turning the paper over and writing over the letters with a pencil.  I turned the paper back over,  placed it on the decorative cardboard, and rubbed the letters to transfer the pencil markings.   Using just a regular colored pencil in a color I thought would look good,   I went over the letters and that was it.    I'm glad I found a way to use this part of the box since it just looked
