LUCKY TRIP TO LUCKETTS

Every summer we spend a week in a small beach town in Delaware with my hubby's family.  It's about a 10 hour drive for us from Ohio so sometimes we split the drive into 2 days. I've heard so much about Lucketts and knew I would love to go there someday.   I finally realized that Lucketts is almost right on the way to Delaware (duh)!  So we spent the night near Leesburg, VA and went to Lucketts the next morning.  Hubby took the kids to see a Civil War monument while I shopped.   Let me just say, the place is HUGE! ~  I looked around outside first ~ Oh my stars . . . Need a door? I think this may have been the inspiration for the movie Monsters Inc.  : ) ~ ~ now on to the inside ~ ~ You don't see a sunglasses display like this everyday. I really loved this wicker rocking chair ~ just maybe not the cushion so much. Isn't this china cabinet beauti

A COTTAGE KITCHEN THAT INSPIRED ME

When we remodeled our kitchen 6 years ago, this is one of the kitchens that I used for inspiration. Isn't it pretty? It has a very similar layout to our kitchen. I love the soft colors and the curve of the tile above the cooktop. The built-in plate rack is a wonderful feature, don't you think? Nice storage ideas too. The pretty hutch adds a lot of warmth to the room. ~ pretty amazing before and after ~ I think this is a classic kitchen that will always be in style. AFTER THE RAIN

I've always loved pictures showing raindrops on foliage so I decided to try my very limited skills the other day after it rained. I took A LOT of pictures ~ a few of them turned out okay for a complete amateur.  This last one is my favorite.  I love how the raindrops are just about to drip from the berries. ~ Happy Sunday Everyone ~  The beginning of a brand new week with endless possibilities! (Possibilities of endless loads of laundry, sticky counters to clean, and little people chauffeuring ~ I always try to look for the positive ~ haha!)

SUMMERTIME FIREPLACE

I made some changes around the fireplace for a more summery look.   I always love the look of a seating arrangement in front of a fireplace so   I tried to make it work with these two completely different chairs. Apparantly, one is for Papa Bear and the other for Baby Bear. Mama Bear doesn't get to sit down ~  she's too busy running around taking pictures  : ) As you can see, I made changes to the mantel as well. I used mostly white items for a lighter, summer feel.  Using the white pillows on the chairs and my favorite white wire basket  helps to tie it all together. I was happy that I found a spot for the old screen that I bought  at a barn sale a while back. This area is a little awkward to decorate but I think it turned out kind of cozy. Anyway, it's always fun to have a new look, right? I hope you are all having a great summer so far. Ours is starting out very busy with my daughter's travel softball
