LUCKY TRIP TO LUCKETTS

Every summer we spend a week in a small beach town in Delaware with my hubby's family.  It's about a 10 hour drive for us from Ohio so sometimes we split the drive into 2 days. I've heard so much about Lucketts and knew I would love to go there someday.   I finally realized that Lucketts is almost right on the way to Delaware (duh)!  So we spent the night near Leesburg, VA and went to Lucketts the next morning.  Hubby took the kids to see a Civil War monument while I shopped.

Let me just say, the place is HUGE!

~  I looked around outside first ~

Oh my stars . . .

Need a door?

I think this may have been the inspiration for the movie Monsters Inc.  : )

~ ~ now on to the inside ~ ~

You don't see a sunglasses display like this everyday.

I really loved this wicker rocking chair ~ just maybe not the cushion so much.

Isn't this china cabinet beautiful?

I think I may have left my heart there . . .

There are several floors of goodies so I didn't even have
time to see the whole thing.

You can get a snack at the Cowbell Kitchen ~ too cute!

So true!

I only bought a couple small things ~ we really didn't have any room in our car
due to all of the beach stuff we had packed.
I considered leaving one of the kids there  : )

If you haven't ever been there, I hope you get to go sometime.
Allow lots of time for looking around and bring a big truck!

  1. Oh my! I could go crazy there.

I have been looking for an old door for ages. The only doors I have seen are several hundred dollars at the local antique shops. I saw a beautiful old green door in on of your photos and the tag said $39. Maybe we should fly there and rent a truck to bring stuff home.

  2. I would go crazy in a place like that. I would have to tell Hubby to hide all the cash and cards from me. HA! HA!

    1. (sorry for the delete of the first try - I had too many typos so I copied, pasted, and edited, lol) Thank you for the mini tour. Luckett's is about a 5.5 hr drive for me, but I'm either going to hijack my husband on one of our trips to DC, or go with my two Panoply sisters and make a REAL trip of it! Luckett's spring market fell on the same weekend as Springfield Extravaganza this year, so S'field won, seeing as my one sister lives in Cincinnati, and we had a place to stay and her husband cooks for us. ;) (visiting from Pamela's)

  13. Oh my, I could spend hours in a store like this! I was drooling over the windows and the architecture pieces on the outside. I have heard a lot of mention of Lucketts on peoples blogs. I enjoyed seeing it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre
