Summer in the Family Room

Hi Everyone, I've made some changes to our family room recently and would like to share them with you and see what you think!  I created an arrangement in the fireplace, added one of my recently purchased vintage tablecloths to the round table, and changed some accessories and wall arrangements.  It feels more like summer and more cottage like to me.  So here are the pics - I would love to hear any thoughts, suggestions, ideas you have for this room.  It has taken me awhile to get it to where it seems just right to me. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ JoAnne Joining these lovely parties... Master Bathroom

Hi Everyone, How are you all doing? Things have been a little stressful around here lately. With the end of the school year coming soon, the kids have a lot of end of year programs and projects to get done. I'm always torn between how much I should help them  or should they do it all on their own.   Do you know what I mean? Anyway, I would like to show you our master bathroom today. When we moved here this was actually a bedroom/office right next  to the master bedroom so we turned it into our master bath. I've really been gravitating more to kind of a french farmhouse  style lately.  I recently changed out the mirrors to these that I found on clearance for $17.50 each!   This little box with the baskets is a thrift store find. I painted it and added the porcelain knob. I didn't take a before picture but this is the bottom of it which gives you an idea of what it looked like. It must have been from Pier 1 Import

Ralph Lauren

Did any of you happen to see Ralph Lauren on Oprah yesterday? Oprah was at his ranch in Colorado and it is an amazing place. Some interior views... Architectural Digest House of Wooikie brunchatsaks.blogspot.com He even has some teepees on his land that guests can stay in -  how cool is that? brunchatsaks.blogspot.com Fashionologie Architectural Digest Architectural Digest Something about Ralph Lauren's style is so American classic, time worn, and comfortable  while beautiful all at the same time. I think I would love to be a guest there!   Just don't understand why he hasn't invited me yet!  { In my dreams !} ~ ~ JoAnne

LITTLE CABINET TRANSFORMATION

Hi Everyone,      The other day I showed you this little cabinet that I got at a garage sale.  I just thought it was so charming and had so much character that I couldn't pass it up.  It was $20 which I thought wasn't bad considering how much I liked it.      It started out a pale pink color as you can see here ~ I like pink in small doses but I thought this was a little too much especially for my kitchen area. So I painted it aqua/blue.  I used the same paint that I used in our family room. Here is what it looks like now ~    I just lightly sanded it, applied a couple thin coats of the paint, sanding in between, and then distressed it a bit.  I also applied a coat of paste wax to it. I'm loving how it turned out - just so darn cute if I do say so myself!  *__ * I decided to hang it in our eating area off of the kitchen. I tried a few different ways of accessorizing it just for fun.  So many possibilities!   This is a spot that I see all of the time when I am in t

BARN SALE AND GARAGE SALE TREASURES

Hi Everyone,      I haven't posted for a bit.  I've been busy going to all sorts of sales among other things.  I'd like to show you some of the things I have found. A pretty vintage tablecloth. I couldn't resist this little cabinet. It's kind of hard to tell, but it is actually a light pink so I will be painting it. A simple stoneware bowl. Love this plate with the perfect shade of blue. Another vintage tablecloth - this one has my favorite blue. I thought this steamer was kind of unique. I really love this plate - the colors are so soft and pretty. Okay, so you know how you change one thing in your house and it leads to a bunch of other changes?  Well, that's what happened when I brought these things home.  I've been changing some things around, especially in the family room.  Sometimes it takes a while to get it to where it seems just right.  I'll be sure to show it to you when I do. Have a great weekend.  I hope yo
