No Place Like Home

Like so many of you, I love to putter around my house,
making little changes here and there.
Today I would like to share some of those with you.

~ I hope you enjoy ~

  9. The pictures you featured are so nice, love the decorations you've styled, sure inspired me. I've put them on my favorites so I can refer back for more inspirations.
It amazes me when I talk about fixing up our home some people ask me why I bother. Why not? I ask them if they don't like to decorate their homes.
An old friend came to visit a few weeks ago and everything she saw that I'd made or fixed up she asked me why I do it and she didn't like the things I'd done. Well gee thanks alot old friend. She said she didn't see the point and thought it more work than needed. I was a bit offended by her blunt opinions. That won't stop me from fixing things up tho. I'm 72, still love to make changes, make things for our home. I get more joy from making my own decorations than I do buying things. I craft or plan a craft pretty much every day.
I hope I'll be doing things like that til I'm too darned old to move. My mind is humming all the time with wonderful projects I've seen on the blogs I visit. Glad to see other ladies doing their thing in their homes. Why not?

  15. I so enjoy looking at homes that are so bright...with light colors. I'm up there in years and will probably have to live with my darker colors. It seems that the "grass is always greener" I'll just have to enjoy the homes I see in the blogs.
Your first picture is a very clever way of using that wire basket.

  18. I love the little vignettes around your home. So cozy. It has a nice feel to it! My favorite was the little bath table with towels and soaps. I love the time worn look of the paint. My favorite part? A place to empty your pockets and sock away those pennies for a rainy day!

...we have gentle rains today, much needed and lovely. I enjoyed visiting you! Pat

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre
