Ikea Now Open

Wednesday was a pretty exciting day for some of us in
the Columbus, Ohio area.
We have our very own Ikea now and it opened on Wednesday.
Before, the closest one was about 2 hours away and this one is
a mere fifteen minutes from my house.

So was I there on opening day?
No way - I'm not that crazy!
Police were going to be directing traffic and people
were lined up very early to be the first ones in the store.
I will patiently wait a couple weeks but in the meantime I have
been doing some perusing of the Ikea website.
Here are some of the things that caught my eye.

A lot of great outdoor items - love this vintage looking watering can.

Many wonderful textiles to choose from, especially pillow covers.

This is such a cute dining set and I like that plate rack on the wall too.

Ikea is known for their great storage and organization solutions.

One of the things I really want to look at are the sofas.
We are looking to replace ours.
I'm not sure if we want to go with Ikea but I
want to check out all of my options before we make a decision.

We have 2 of the Ektorp love seats in our basement and we have
been really happy with them.
I see they have a new style slipcovered sofa -
its the FARLOV that's pictured below.
I like how it looks so I'm anxious to check it out in person.

I'm pre-shopping so I have a plan of what I want to look at when I go.
You can't just go in there all willy nilly and wander around you know -
I mean, you could get lost in those 354,000 square feet!

More likely I will get lost in the parking lot when I don't remember
where I parked the car : )

Some people really love Ikea and others not so much.
You're certainly not going to find heirloom quality furnishings
but the prices can't be beat.
I really think it depends on what you're looking for.
What do you think of Ikea?

    1. Oh good - 45 minutes isn't too bad for someplace like IKEA. You can easily spend most of a day there!

  6. Lucky you, enjoy your visit and don't spend tooo much. Love idea of couch with slip cover included
Have only been in an IKEA once in San Diego last Summer when visiting. Only had an hour but managed to look around to see quality merchandise and wonderful show room floor displays. I had wanted the white metal table but they don't ship it to our location. Did get that, good price, Thought was hot in store but am not used to CA climate anymore.
Wish there was one close to us, not going over those mountains to Denver or to Salt Lake so will do without. There's always online. We live few miles west of Grand Junction, CO on west side of divide.

  8. Our IKEA is about forty-five minutes away in non-rush-hour traffic. I love to go and browse and I always find something that needs to come home with me. We're about to start shopping for another sofa and I like some from IKEA. I may have to go back soon and check them out! Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. I'm so excited about our new Ikea but haven't been there yet - like you - no way, not till the excitement dies down (but does it ever?) My daughters have both been there more than a few times. And of course one must eat at the cafeteria and have their famous Swedish Meatballs lunch! YUM!

And if you ever go - buy a few of their chocolate candy bars- the best chocolate ever at a 1/3 the price of good imported creamy chocolate!

Let me know if you ever wanna do a meet-up there. : - )

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre
