Peaceful Morning

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a very peaceful morning.
The kids don't have school today so everyone is sleeping in.
The sun is coming up and making
a very bright appearance.

~ so relaxing ~

~ at least for a little while ~

I'm having my coffee in one of these mugs
I received for Christmas.
They're from Crate and Barrel and
they're great for a large cup in the morning.

I also received this farmhouse mixing bowl.
I love the soft, white color and it is really large.
Perfect for mixing a large batch of cookies ~
may have to do some of that today for the kiddos.

I want to thank everyone for such nice comments
about our master bedroom.
You're very kind.

Also, a big thank you to Kim at Savvy Southern Style
for featuring our bedroom this week.
Such a nice compliment ~ Thanks Kim!

Have a wonderful day ~ I hope the sun is shining
where you are!

Sunny Sitting Areas ~ A Guest Post

Hello!
I'm Jessica and every day I get to write about interior design for
Arcadian Lighting, an awesome website for affordable light fixtures.
I'm delighted to be guest posting on A Pocketful of Blue today
to share some very bright, inspiring interiors.
While we may still be in the middle of winter, I thought
I'd share some lovely rooms that let in plenty of warm sunshine.
 I hope you enjoy!

Sunny Sitting Room

Floor to ceiling windows and folding glass doors ensure that this cozy,
casual living room gets as much sunshine as possible.
The stone fireplace adds just a bit of rustic texture to the modern setting.

Bright, Light Colors

A beautiful pair of French doors, decorated with delicate white curtains,
allows fresh springtime air to gently breathe through the room.
During the colder months, the soft beach-inspired color palette keeps the room light and bright.

Sunny Sitting Room

This very simple entryway is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the warm sunshine.
It would be a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and a book.

White Furniture and Big Windows

This living room is all about balance and brightness.
The all-white furniture and lamp simply reflect the light coming through the doors.

Sunny Living Room

I love how the table is cluttered with books and the wall is cluttered with artwork in this room.
The comfy chair is placed just in the right spot to catch the most sunlight.

Yellow Wallpaper and Sun Light

This spectacularly yellow room may be a bit overly decorated,
but it is a wonderful example of the effect a wall color can have on a room.
This shade certainly brightens the room in so many ways.

Green and Light

This dining room is serene and beautiful, especially with all the fresh greenery.
I love the tall industrial lighting fixture reaching toward the table.

Great Big Windows

The impressively high-reaching windows make this apartment feel like it is part of a greenhouse.
The wall of windows create a very spacious and light feeling, as well.

Master Bedroom Reveal

Hi Everyone,

I'm really excited to show you my finished bedroom.
It's all freshened up with a couple coats of
Cozy Cottage by Behr.

I love my new bedding.
It's by Ralph Lauren and I found it at Homegoods.

I moved the armoir to the corner.
It's amazing how much larger the room seems now.

Here is just a paper bag with some hydrangeas and twine.

This picture is actually a greeting card I happened to find.
I love how it looks in this frame that I already had.

The room seems really pulled together now.
The toile bedding works great with our French style furniture.

It's a wonderful retreat after a busy day.

Thank you so much for taking my little tour ~
I love being able to share my decorating projects with you
and I always love hearing from you!

Bedroom Progress

If you saw my post a few days ago, you know that I started painting
our bedroom and wasn't happy with the color.
So I chose another color and I now have the first coat on the walls.
It looks really nice so far and I'm much happier with how it
looks with my furniture.
The color is Cozy Cottage by Behr.
It's very soft and has a very slight yellow tone to it.
It works well for this room because it doesn't get a lot of natural light.

See "The Boss" inspecting my work?
Here is a peak at the new bedding I found.
I wasn't planning to buy anything new but of course that
is always when you find something.

This was a Ralph Lauren comforter set at Homegoods.
It was literally right inside the doors of the store ~ it jumped
right out at me ~ really!!
The colors are so pretty and since we have French style furniture,
I think it will go well in the room.

Can't wait 'til the painting is done!
I love putting the room back together and accessorizing.
That's the best part ~ don't you agree?

Thank you so much for checking in
on my progress!

No go on the sandstone cove

darn it!!

I finally got around to painting our master bedroom.

This color . . .

It's a very pretty color and I love how it
 looks with the white trim.

However, once I had the first coat painted on one wall,
a little thought started creeping into my head.
You know, the one that says, "I'm not so sure about this!"
Then I start thinking I should just keep going and hope I like it
in the end.  At the same time, I'm thinking, "I'll be really upset if I
paint the whole room and still don't like it."

So here's the thing . . .
It's a beautiful color but what I didn't like was the way it
looked with the wood tones and other things in the room.

I think I need something a little more creamy, beige
 and not as much gray.
So I've decided to go with Cozy Cottage which is the color
 I have in the kitchen.

It's a safe choice but I do think I will really like it . . . I HOPE!!

Wish me luck!!

(can someone tell me how to turn off that little voice in my head?)  : )

have a great day

~ JoAnne
