New Look For My Small Entry

I always love when I walk into someone's home and their entryway is pretty and inviting. Its just a good feeling and then of course, I want to see more. Well I was ready for a new look in our entry but it's a bit narrow and difficult to find  small pieces of furniture that will work without crowding the area too much. I love cute little stools and benches and I actually have a small collection  at this point so I decided to try one of them in the entry. I liked it, but it didn't seem like enough and there was too much  space between the bench and the mirror.   So then I tried stacking a smaller bench on top. It was looking better and after adding a few accessories I think it did the trick. Adding something large like this galvanized bucket full of faux lavendar makes a  very pretty statement as you walk in the door. This one little white pumpkin is a nice seasonal touch too. Now I have a new look i...

What Mom Does On The First Day Of School

Today was the first day of school for my kids so I did what any self-respecting Mom does when their kids head back to school. I made a trip to Homegoods of course! I was just going to stay home and clean but the lure of Homegoods only 10 minutes away just kept taunting me. The temptation was too great so I went and came home with  two items that I just can't seem to ever resist. A nice sized white pitcher . . . and a white wire basket. For now I placed both of them on my little bench in the foyer. Tomorrow they may end up somewhere else.  : ) Maybe I will stay home and clean tomorrow . . . maybe. As always, thanks so much for visiting ~ JoAnne joining COZY LITTLE HOUSE ~ TWEAK IT TUESDAY SAVVY SOUTHERN STYLE ~ WOW US WEDNESDAY NORTHERN NESTING ~ SHARE YOUR STYLE IN THE NEW HOUSE DESIGNS ~ INSPIRATION THURSDAY

MY SORTA MUDROOM MOVED TO MY ENTRYWAY

About three years ago, I showed you how I turned this little cubby unit and this bench into a sort of mudroom area by our back sliding doors. We never really ended up using it much for its intended purpose  so I decided to move it to our entryway. When we have guests this winter (just pretend I didn't say "winter") it will be handy to hang their coats here. Our entryway isn't terribly large and this bench is not very deep  so it fits nicely without making it too crowded. I had a little fun accessorizing too! I kept the wall by the door fairly simple with just my large window frame, a pot of geraniums, and a few other things I had around the house. The picture below is the view I see from the kitchen.  And this is what you would see from our living/family room. So now that we're ready for visitors, come on over! "The Boss" is watching for you!! Thanks so much for ...

Farmhouse Foyer

I decided to try to make our foyer a little more "farmhouse-y". ( i love how we get to make up words in blogland ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So I cleared off the little bench I already had there and just added four simple items that gave me that  farmhouse feeling. For the wall, I removed an old picture from a frame, beat up the frame a little bit (great for stress relief), and added a wreath. I attached the wreath with a strip of corrugated cardboard and some twine all fancy, schmancy like! ( love how this turned out ) I also added a plate and platter that I've had forever. And that's it! Simple, quick, and easy. Aren't little areas like this fun to redecorate? It doesn't take a whole lot of stuff or a whole lot of time. Black & White for Spring?

I've been dressing up our foyer a bit for Spring and Easter. 'The Boss' says "Come on in and see what the crazy decorating lady in this house has been up to this time!" (You better do what he says, cause he is 'The Boss' after all!) It all started with the Cherish, Live, Dream sign but this wall needed something else. So I found these little drawings of the lamb, chick and bunny and repurposed this black frame. My old window frame is on the opposite wall. I added a black & white bunny print heart and another  little bunny with a burlap bow. The brown bunny I purchased recently at Homegoods is sitting on the bench with a basket of pink flowers to complement her pink bow. I'm beginning to think she's quite the snooty little bunny with her nose stuck so far up in the air!! I never thought I would use black and white for spring  but I like how it looks with the blue ...

A Touch of Fall

Hi Everyone, Are you in the mood for Fall decorating yet? I know a lot of you have already started and I've seen some really pretty Fall inspiration from a lot of you! This is how our foyer looked over the spring and summer. When I found this coat rack at Homegoods recently,  I thought it would  look great for Fall so that was my starting point. And this is our foyer now. {You can see "The Blog Boss" there in the corner supervising :} I love how the deep red looks with the light blue on the walls. When I saw the red pears at the grocery store, I thought they would be the perfect thing for the two pots.  I nestled them in some spanish moss. I already had this "Welcome" sign and I thought it went well with everything else. Okay, "The Boss" is giving me the "evil eye" so I guess  I better  wrap this up!  He says you have all had enough of my "yammering"!  : ) I'm sure that's...
