Simple Summer Bedroom

I love the way the sun was streaming through our bedroom window this morning. Enjoying the beginning of the day before the house wakes up and the temperatures rise. Crisp white sheets . . . a white wicker rocking chair . . . and sweet pink flowers . . . create a simple summer bedroom . . . and a cool retreat at the end of the day. Master Bedroom Refresh

I finally found some time to freshen up our master bedroom for summer. Better late than never, right? The first thing I did was paint this little rustic stool that I found at a barn sale a couple years ago. The poor thing had been hanging out in a dark corner of our basement waiting patiently for its makeover. I think it looks very sweet now at the end of our bed especially with  the addition of a basket of flowers. I took down the plates I had above our bed and on a whim I decided to try placing my herb drying rack in their place. I really liked how it looked but it was a little plain so I added a wooden plaque above it to complete the look. Also, hidden away was a matelasse coverlet, that I brought out for a lighter feel and look. This is my favorite little Cath Kidston pillow purchased from Ebay long ago. It's a little small for the bed but I do think it looks kind of cute and I like the addition of the pinkish red flower...

A CORNER OF MY ROOM

This morning after I made the bed, I decided to do a little tweaking in this corner of the room while the sun was shining in. Meanwhile "The Boss" wandered in. I continued playing with pillows and swapping out baskets. This is his "I want some attention" pose. There . . . all done tweaking for now. Okay kitty, I'm all yours. MASTER BEDROOM WITH LAYERS FOR FALL

When the weather starts to get cooler in the fall and we start dressing in layers, I like to do the same with our bedding. This year, I have several layers starting with a top sheet and then a lightweight quilt. Next is a very soft and snuggly blanket followed by my toile comforter at the foot of the bed. Now we're ready for those chilly nights. Adding the light brown tones of the pillows and blanket creates a warmer feeling too, I think. Here are a few more changes I made in the room to tie in with the bedding. I love these wood frames that are from Target. I added some prints I already had and placed them above the dressers one each side of the bed. In this corner, I placed my black wicker rocking chair with plump pillows and a basket.  We really needed more lighting in this room, so I purchased a  floor lamp for this corner as well. I have a lot of patterns in this room and I really like how it looks. ...

THE MASTER BEDROOM THIS YEAR

I have made some little changes in our master bedroom  that I haven't shown you. I wasn't sure when I last posted about this room so when I checked  it out, it just so happens that it was in May of last year. Maybe I should call this "My Annual Master Bedroom Post." ~ so here it is now ~ The sun was shining in so beautifully the day  I took these pictures. ~ a few accessory changes ~ I found these plates for above the headboard on Ebay. The biggest change is probably swapping out the chair I had in here for my white wicker rocker.  I think it gives the room more of a  cottage feel. So now you're all caught up on the master bedroom ~ I know you've just been waiting in anticipation ~ ha ha! MASTER BEDROOM RESTYLE

Hi Everyone, I finally have pictures of the changes I've made in the master. I took these at the beginning of last week but then had problems downloading the photos ~ frustrating, I tell you! Anyway, here they are. This first picture is kind of what started it all. I purchased this lamp from Pottery Barn for our family room but I didn't really like it in there so I tried it in our bedroom. It gave the room a much lighter look that I really liked so that inspired more changes ~ you all know how that goes, right? In the picture below, you can see the lamps we had previously. Here is what the room looks like now. I have always liked the look of plates above the bed since they can kind of mimic  the curve of the headboard so that's what I did again. Do you think I need to add a couple more plates or do you think these three are enough? My comforter is reversible which is kind of nice for an easy change occasionally. ...
