New Sofa Table and Old Screen Door

I have been looking for a new sofa table for the long wall in our family room and I'm happy to say that I finally found one that I love.   This table is 60" wide and is a much better fit than the 48" table I had.  I found it on the Wayfair site and I got it for a great price so that made me even happier. Of course the best part was accessorizing it after it arrived. I decided to try some baskets on the wall above the table and I really  like how they look and all of the texture that they add. Some old books are always a great accessory. The original knobs were nickel and I decided to change them  out with some wooden ones that I found at Target. The bottom shelf was fun to decorate as well. This is such a long wall that I decided to fill it in even more with this old screen door that I've had forever but  had never found a good place for it. I had to dress it up a little too so I added ...

Cracker Barrel - Some Sweet Finds

Sometimes you just never know where you will find something special for your home. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel a couple weeks ago and of course I had to look around in the Country Store part of the restaurant. Do you ever see something and just instantly know that you love it and have to have it? Well, that is how I felt about this wood cake stand. There was no way I was leaving there without it. Wood Cake Stand Here it is on our table being used as a centerpiece. I just love the warmth of the wood top and I can imagine using it  for so many different things all around the house. I paid $25 but I noticed that it's now on sale for $18.74. You can also shop online . Here are a few other goodies that I thought would be perfect for cottage or farmhouse style and they are all on sale as well: Stoneware Measuring Cup Set Ceramic Mason Jars Indoor Planter Framed Lace Heart Wall Decor Vintage Clear Glass Goblet Striped Kitchen...

Transform Your Christmas Tins for Spring

Hi Everyone, I wanted to show you a quick and easy project that I just completed to repurpose some old Christmas tins that are no longer my style. My inspiration was some very pretty scrapbooking papers that I had found at Hobby Lobby.  There are so many beautiful, interesting and fun papers to choose from that the possibilities are endless. All I did was cut the papers to size to fit around the two larger cans and attached them with a small amount of white glue. I painted the lids with chalk paint as well as the smaller can. Here you can see how they turned out. As I was editing these photos, child no.2 so lovingly pointed out that the smaller can looked out of place. I actually kind of agree with her but that's part of the beauty of this project. I could repaper or paint over what I have done at any time. I think they look good enough for now to use for spring and Easter decorating. There are just so many possibilities of how you...

Little Things I Love Around the House

Sometimes I forget to look around and appreciate what I have. It's often the little things that I enjoy the most like a simple basket of white mums. Or a mason jar covered in chalk paint with some  country flowers from the dollar store. And of course anything in my favorite shades of blue. I piled a couple quilts on top of a cupboard so I could see them everyday. And I'm loving some little touches of rosy pink here and there. I'm always trying to cut down on the amount of "stuff" I have. I feel like I either need to use it or get rid of it. The cloth draped over my pink stool is actually a valance from the Rachel Ashley line at Target that I picked up a long time ago. I have never been able to use it as a valance so I thought  I would try it here. I did a little more tweaking to my entryway bench with my recent Homegoods finds and a few other things in my stash. Even something as si...

What Mom Does On The First Day Of School

Today was the first day of school for my kids so I did what any self-respecting Mom does when their kids head back to school. I made a trip to Homegoods of course! I was just going to stay home and clean but the lure of Homegoods only 10 minutes away just kept taunting me. The temptation was too great so I went and came home with  two items that I just can't seem to ever resist. A nice sized white pitcher . . . and a white wire basket. For now I placed both of them on my little bench in the foyer. Tomorrow they may end up somewhere else.  : ) Maybe I will stay home and clean tomorrow . . . maybe. LITTLE CHANGE IN THE BATHROOM

I've had this black table in our master bathroom for a long time so I decided it was time for a change. I swapped it out for my farmhouse chair and one of my little benches. I actually have two of these benches and I have used them all over the house. My hubby's change jar fit perfectly under the chair. Just a few accessories were added to the bench. I know I've shown you this blue and white bowl before but it's really one of my very favorite things. It's such a lighter look from the black table. I'm really liking this quick and easy change. As always, thanks so much for visiting! ~ JoAnne

AROUND THE KITCHEN

I enjoy doing these little posts of things around my kitchen. I love kitchen gadgets and accessories and I do make changes to them fairly often. ~ ~ ❀ ~ ~  Next to the stove, I usually have a grouping of utensils so I can quickly grab what I need - you know, like when the grilled cheese is burning and I need a spatula pronto!  : ) Below you can see I added a yellow apple for a little spring color. ~ ~ ❀ ~ ~   The top of this little cabinet is always a good place for a couple fun accessories. I loved this little blue "Traditional Biscuits" tin when I saw it at Homegoods. ~ ~ ❀ ~ ~ I like using glass jars too.  This "Yorkshire" jar is also a Homegoods find. ~ ~ ❀ ~ ~   Baskets are always fun to fill up with kitchen towels, bread boards and other supplies. ~ ~ ❀ ~ ~ And of course there must be something on the table like some flowers for spring with a pretty bowl, t...
