Changes to Family Room Wall

I've changed the large wall space in my family room...again. This is what it looked like the last time I showed it to you. It was okay for awhile but I kept feeling like I wanted something different. When my Mom gave some old picture frames to me, I decided to try using them here. They were gold so of course I spray painted them white. ~  here is what it looks like now ~ I made my own artwork or I should really say,  I created something (it definitely isn't art)  to put in these frames.   I just used some scrapbooking paper and some rubber stamps that I've had for a long time. I also painted a couple old boards that we had and put them up as kind of a ledger board or plate rail. It's very amateur but I like how it lightened up this end of the room and it's just something very different than I've had there before. Do you find it difficult to fill up large wall spaces? I sure do. Especially when trying to d...

Thanksgiving Tablescape ~ Already?

I know, we're not even past Halloween and I'm posting about Thanksgiving! Well, I can't help it! I just found out that I will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year. My Mom moved to a smaller house recently so we decided to have everyone at my house. She will be helping me with the dinner ~ thank goodness! Anyway, I instantly started obsessing about the tablescape. I went to our nearby Dollar Tree and bought a few things and used mostly what I already have. This is what I have come up with so far. . . I really like the color combination of aqua blue and deep red this year. This is actually the china we received when we got married 18 years ago  and I still really love it! I can't believe I was insightful enough at that time to choose something timeless or more likely, I was just lucky. I found most of these flowers at the Dollar Tree. I would like to have several small bouquets rather than just one. This basket was a...

Chippy Screen Door

Hi Everyone, I spotted this old, chippy screen door at a garage sale a couple weeks ago. It was only $6.00 so I snatched it right up! It's adding a little charm to this corner by our computer desk. • • • • • • • • • • This old pie tin is the perfect accessory don't you think? I think the wording on it ~  " Blue Bird Pies" ~ is especially appropriate! Don't you love how old pieces like this just add so much character and charm to your home? ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ I think they're just so special! ~  JoAnne ∞∞∞ joining ∞∞∞ LaurieAnna's Vintage Home * Farmhouse Friday My Romantic Home * Show & Tell   Common Ground * Vintage Inspiration Friday French Country Home * Feathered Nest Friday

My Sorta Mudroom

Hi Everyone, I'm so happy to finally be able to share a little project that I had been putting off for way too long! I found this cute shelf with cubbies and hooks over a year ago at HomeGoods. Ridiculous, I know! I also had this bench that I found at a yard sale. And we have this little area by the sliding doors to our backyard which I thought would work well for a sort of mudroom area to keep extra coats, hats, etc. especially during the winter. When it snows, the kids come in and out of this door to play in the snow. Exciting picture of a blank wall, right? ~ so I painted the shelf  ~ ~ painted the bench ~ ~ and put it all together ~ We now have a previously unused space that I think will be very functional for us. Of course I had to pretty it all up for you!  It won't stay this way, but I can enjoy it for a little while until the winter coats and boots have to come out of the close...

Kitchen Shelf Color

Thanks so much everyone for the sweet and helpful comments about  the color  I painted on the back of my kitchen display shelf.  It looks like the color will be staying. After living with it for awhile, I really do like it. But you never know when I might suddenly  decide to change it!  : ) You don't know anyone who would ever  do anything  like that do you?   See you this week ~  JoAnne

Perfect Little Table

I found the most perfect little table  for a corner of our eating area recently. ~ already painted white ~ ~ with sweet curves and a little drawer ~ ~ a bottom shelf with the perfect amount of chippy-ness ~ ~ adorable details on the legs ~ I couldn't ask for more. It was just meant to be! This miniature rose that my Mom gave me is like the cherry on top! ~ i'm in love ~ Don't you love it when you stumble across the perfect piece  you weren't even looking for? I sure do! ¨¨  JoAnne ¨¨ ¨  joining ¨ LaurieAnna's Vintage Home ¨ Farmhouse Friday My Romantic Home ¨ Show & Tell Friday French Country Cottage ¨ Feathered Nest Friday
