Hi Blogland Buddies!
I haven't shown you much of the exterior of our house
so I thought I would share it with you today.
I always love to see what everyone's homes look like on the outside, don't you?
This first photo is just a little sneak peek.
I didn't want to start out with the dreaded "before".
But here it is, the way it looked as we were moving in.....
...and this is how it looks now.
We removed the old shrubs and tore out the
crumbling old sidewalk.
My hubby and I designed a curved walkway
and larger planting beds.
The walkway is covered with pea gravel which is
a pretty inexpensive solution.
We added a little seating area with a bench.
And as you can see, we planted new shrubs and
a couple small trees.
A few flowers add a little color.
Things are a little dry right now,
I'm trying to keep up with the watering!

There is still a lot more we would like to do.
Maybe some shutters...
window boxes...
paint the front door...
...you know, the list goes on and on!!
We're really happy with what we've done so far ~
at least it's a huge improvement from what we
started with!
Doesn't it make you feel good when you drive
up to your home and feel like it looks pretty?
Especially when you've done most of the work
yourself, isn't it a great feeling of satisfaction?
(Not to mention a bit of exhaustion and sore muscles too!)
Thanks for visiting and taking a peek at our exterior.
If you have any ideas for me, I would love to hear them!
Have a wonderful day!!

Joanne the outside of your home looks beautiful and so welcoming! I LOVE the idea of adding shutters! Have a great week, Martina
ReplyDeleteI think the changes look great! I would definitely be excited to drive up to such a pretty house. Nice work! I love the idea of shutters and window boxes too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

You home looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteShutters and window boxes would look grand, too -- but it's terrific just as it is. Yes, it IS fantastic to pull into your driveway and sigh and say to yourself, "That's MY house!" and love it.
PS Normally I might "vote" for a yellow front door (we just painted ours Screaming Yellow Zonkers yellow!) but with the beautiful stone of your house ... I'm thinking that beautiful teal color might be just the thing!

Very nice exterior!
ReplyDeleteI love your changes. Great idea about the pea gravel. And the bench by the entry is cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, It looks fabulous! I love the seating area you added. The pea gravel was a great solution. Flower boxes would be charming! I'm your newest follower; found you via Kim.

come and visit me !!!
You should be proud of yourself- that's a lot of work. I especially like the area off the front stoop where the bench is - it say's "Welcome and come and sit a spell".
ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely beautiful and inviting. What a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a nice exterior! We just moved, and our exterior is in dire need of a make-over! Hopefully by next year, I'll have it to where I can actually take pics & post them up! ;) Anyway, lovely blog!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute house! Why is it that home improvement projects are never over?! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier and for your kind comment. Have a great day!
