A Clean Kitchen

This is my son's senior year and we have been in the thick of college visits, applications, and senior year activities. Lots to do and I know this year is going to fly by. Things are a little less crazy at the moment so I've had a little time to do some fluffing and puttering around the house . A great way to spend some time in my opinion ; ) This morning the sun was shining in so beautifully. It motivated me to give the kitchen a good cleaning. It felt so good to have the counters clean and sparkling . . . . . . and the table cleared off with only a simple centerpiece left in the middle. I filled this bowl with some shiny red apples. This old fruit crate came from the Country Living Fair. Of course the blue label is what caught my eye. Now it is on my counter filled with some of my favorite kitchen accessories and a little fall color. I even lit a candle placed in a favorite little teacup. ...

A Little Fall On The Mantel

Hi Everyone, I was recently inspired to change the arrangement that I've had on my mantel for awhile. Below is a picture from the blog that was the source of my inspiration. It's from the blog, Vintage Whites . I just love the way Vanessa has used softer, pastel colors for her fall decorating.  There are many more beautiful, inspiring photos like this on her blog if you haven't already seen them. Vintage Whites So this is what I came up with, using things I already had around the house. I used a lot of white with some greenery and some real branches with leaves that were just starting to change color. ~  ~  ~  ~  ~    I found this autumn printable here . I thought it was so cute and it had the soft colors that I was looking for. Here is my Goodwill rooster you saw in my last post. He looks so much better after his makeover with some white paint. Don't you agree? ~  ~  ~ ...

Our New Goodwill Store

Over the summer, I was watching as a brand new Goodwill Store  was being constructed right next to the Meijer store that I go to often. So when it opened recently, my daughter and I just had to stop in. I mean, how could we resist, right? We saw this nice display as we walked in and then we saw a sign saying that everything was 50% off that day only! Look at all the great things I found for about $11 all together. I thought this little crock was really cute. And look at this pretty covered dish ~ perfect for Fall decorating. So many goodies. It's good that my daughter was with me or I probably would have bought more ~ I'm suppose to be getting rid of things, not buying more! She didn't want to browse quite as long as I did.  : ) Oh, I also got this cute wooden rooster and I'm giving him a makeover. You'll see more of him later. I thought this outfit displayed at the front of the store was really cute...
