A HOUSE ON A LAKE

Many of us dream of having a beach house but when you don't live
anywhere near the ocean, a house on a lake might be a more realistic possibility.
Lake houses or cabins tend to be a little more rustic and cozy, I think, and there's
something to be said for being surrounded by tall trees, the sounds of nature,
and possibly a few critters.
Here are a few lake houses I found on Houzz.
Some small, some bigger, some more rustic than others.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

PRIVATE LAKE IN MAINE

Would you like to have a house on a lake (if you don't already of course)?
Do you like any of these houses or have a favorite?

There's just something about them that is very appealing to me.
I love our home but when our kids are grown, it would be kind of nice
to have a place where they could bring their families that would be
like a little vacation and there would be fun things for all of us to enjoy.
Doesn't that sound nice?

  4. That sounds great! I would gladly take that one in Minneapolis - the interiors are beautiful. Our neighborhood is actually a stone's throw from a lake. The only hitch is that there are mansion type houses around the lake...nothing I would ever want. I'd much rather have one of those sweet cottages with trees all around.

  5. I actually live near the ocean, in a small cottage, but have always loved the idea of a lake house. There's just something about the water...salt or not! I love the house with huge ceiling beams! Gorgeous!

  11. Wonderful Lake homes! I actually prefer lakes and streams to the ocean... And I am from California LOL!

  12. We have a cabin by a lake (no water view, but about a 1 minute walk), but the sound and look of the ocean is hard to resist!

I do agree that lake houses tend to be surrounded more so by nature. Trees, critters (in our case, bears!) and the ability to go boating easily with a kayak or canoe has its advantages for sure.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite out of the pictures you found. They're all lovely, but I suppose anything with high ceilings has my vote :).
