Hello Everyone,
In my last post I shared how we finally finished and installed
a mantel on our family room fireplace.
I have been making some smaller changes as well so I though I would
show you a tour of how the room looks now. It's mostly just accessories and
little tweaks here and there that are making this a room I am much happier with.
I finally found some checked pillows in my favorite shade of blue. I have been
looking for pillows like these forever and I'm so happy I finally found them.
I just love checks and to me, they really embody the cottage style.
The long wall behind the love seat is always a challenge for me.
I knew I wanted to use my old window but I needed more to fill in the large space.
I finally came up with this arrangement (after much trial and error) using things I already had.
I really wanted something interesting and a little different to look at.
A new lamp on my round side table gives off so much more light than the lamp
I had there before. We really needed that in this room and it makes such
a difference at night and on gray Ohio days.
Looking past the lamp, you can see this little arrangement on the wall.
I think the corner by the fireplace looks kind of sweet with the stool, old
books and rustic pitcher.
Below you see the wall with the required big black TV.
I struggle with what to put on the walls next to it. Sometimes I kind of drive myself crazy
trying to come up with a solution for a problem area when I should just say it's good enough.
Also, you can see how this room flows with the entryway and kitchen.
Thanks so much for taking my little tour.
Now I'm going to refill my coffee cup and enjoy a little snack.
Have a great weekend!

JoAnne, everything always looks so pretty at your place. I love the colors, such an elegant, serene feeling! I have that same white pitcher with the flowers in it...have tulips in mine right now! Love the handle!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I love all your artwork and accent pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Rebecca!
DeleteLove the checked pillows! Where did you find them?
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie - the pillows are from Ballard Designs.
DeleteIt looks so cozy and inviting! I love anything with checks, and especially that lovely shade of blue.

JoAnne, you know I love your style. The whole room is so clean and beautiful. The way you decorated around the TV is perfect. Just enough to make the TV fit in but not too much. The pillows make your leather couch fit right into the cottage just right.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice. I miss my lighter walls. The walls in our new home are darker than I would choose but I will have to wait. I really like the arrangement behind the sofa.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your blue makes me feel better about my addiction to teal. Do you ever go to the little vintage store in New Albany. Vintage Restored.....I think. I found some really cute things this week. She was having a sale.
Have a good rest of the weekend
It came out pretty!
