Our Son's Graduation

Hi Everyone,

Our son graduated from high school at the end of May.
We had a big family party after the ceremony and many of our
relatives from out of town came so it was a wonderful day.

It was such a crazy busy time that I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the decorations
for his party but I thought I would show you the announcement that I designed using Picmonkey.
I really love doing things like that and I could easily spend hours playing around with it.
I used Overnight Prints to have them printed and I was very happy with how they turned out.
It was very inexpensive as well.
I can't help but brag a little bit and show you some of his graduation pictures.
He can be kind of a serious kid but his whole face lights up when he smiles ~
which makes my heart melt.

Here is a picture of us along with my 94 year old father-in-law.
My father-in-law is someone I greatly admire.
He is such a good person - so kind, moral, loving and humble.
I am grateful that he has been so close to Andrew and a role model for him.

Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away a few years ago.
She and my father-in-law had been married for over 60 years.
She was a wonderful person as well and Andrew has her beautiful smile.

And here is Andrew with my beautiful Mom.
She has been a big part of his life too.
He has been lucky to have such loving grandparents
who care so much about him.

Of course we are so proud of Andrew.
No one could ask for a better son and we love him to pieces!
Happily he has chosen a college that is close to home so that makes
this Momma very happy!

And now, we have just returned from vacation so maybe life
will be a little less hectic - haha!

I'll be back soon with some pictures of adorable cottages from the
little beach town where we vacationed.

Thanks a bunch for visiting!

  1. Joanne, what great memories you have captured. Great photos. Congratulations to your son. It's an exciting time for a family. Our youngest is starting his junior year at Ball State this year. I'm thankful for the grandparents he has had too. Like you, my father in law is also 94 years old. It's amazing how fast time goes by and how quickly our children grow up. I wish him lots of luck at college.

  2. Congratulations, Joanne, to you and your son! He has the bluest eyes! We are in the throes of prom/ graduation week right now! It is such a crazy, bittersweet time. I watched home videos last night and cannot believe how fast it has all gone by. I am sure you can relate. :) Sounds like a dreamy vacation. I can't wait for a peek!

  3. Such sweet pictures. Congratulations. Have a blessed vacation. What a cute cottage.

  4. Congrats Joanne to your sweet and very handsome son. What a wonderful accomplishment. Glad he found a college near home. That will make the first year transition so much easier for all of you. What a cute cottage. Did you stay in this cottage? Can't wait to hear about your vacation.

  5. Joann, congratulations to your family and son. He's a good looking kid and I agree about the smile. Ohio State bound. A special relationship with Grandpa is special

  6. Congratulations on your sons graduation! What a handsome young man! Lovely memories these pictures will provide you, and it's always a good day when families come together.

  7. Congratulations! My daughter graduated this year too, and is going to work this year. Its so exciting isn't it, to see them begin a new phase of life?

  8. These are such sweet photos of your dear son and the family. I know the pride, joy and emotion that live in your heart. Enjoy your Summertime with him, he looks like such a good boy too!

  9. Your son is really handsome and you must be so proud he's going to college!

  10. Congratulations to your son. So happy for you that he will be close to home when he goes to college. Both of my girls stayed close to home when they went to college and I loved that they were close.

  11. Congratulations to your son. I'm catching up after being away without a connection so I'm a bit late with my best wishes to him. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family with us.

Many of us dream of having a beach house but when you don't live anywhere near the ocean, a house on a lake might be a more realistic possibility. Lake houses or cabins tend to be a little more rustic and cozy, I think, and there's something to be said for being surrounded by tall trees, the sounds of nature, and possibly a few critters. Here are a few lake houses I found on Houzz.   Some small, some bigger, some more rustic than others. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Home For The Holidays ~ Entry, Family Room and Kitchen

I have always loved the phrase "Home for the Holidays". Even though we are taking a short trip right before Christmas, we will be back in time to enjoy Christmas at home.

Of course, home can be wherever the people I love will be.
That's the most important thing and the most necessary ingredient.

But I don't mind if it also includes a cute little reindeer.

And a decorated mantel.

A Christmas tree, of course.

Pretty packages.

And a cozy kitchen with little bits of Christmas sprinkled around.

Christmas also includes our cute kitty with visions of sugarplums dancing
in his little head . . . or kitty treats, whichever.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.
I know there are so many beautiful homes to visit right now.

Hope your Christmas is Merry and Bright!

Farmhouse Style In My Kitchen

Wow! Farmhouse style has really taken off, hasn't it? I love it just as much as many of you out there. One of the great things about it is that it's fairly easy to add  to your decor and it can be relatively inexpensive too.
Here are a few recent finds for my kitchen that I think give it a little more of that farmhouse feeling.

Now this one is pretty obvious considering it has the word "FARM" right on it  : ) This came from a little shop I went to while we were on vacation  and it really inspired me to add a few more farmhouse style accessories.

I have admired these vintage scales forever and I finally found one on Ebay  that I thought would look great in my kitchen and was also a reasonable price. Boy, some of them are really pricey!

Any good farmhouse has to have a rooster, right? A quick little project I did was add blue grain sack stripes to this white wooden rooster. I think he is pretty proud of them!

Of course mason jars and pretty little flowers bring on th…
