New Look For My Small Entry

I always love when I walk into someone's home and their entryway is pretty and inviting.
Its just a good feeling and then of course, I want to see more.
Well I was ready for a new look in our entry but it's a bit narrow and difficult to find
small pieces of furniture that will work without crowding the area too much.

I love cute little stools and benches and I actually have a small collection
at this point so I decided to try one of them in the entry.

I liked it, but it didn't seem like enough and there was too much
space between the bench and the mirror.

So then I tried stacking a smaller bench on top.
It was looking better and after adding a few accessories I think it did the trick.

Adding something large like this galvanized bucket full of faux lavendar makes a
very pretty statement as you walk in the door.

This one little white pumpkin is a nice seasonal touch too.

Now I have a new look in the entry and also this is my view from our
kitchen doorway so it's nice to have a pretty view from there as well.

Don't you love quick, easy and inexpensive decorating?
Me too!

  1. Your entryway looks lovely. I've been doing a bit of re-decorating with things that I already have as well. We had a garage sale last weekend and I found so many wonderful things still in boxes and bins from our move last year. One stop shopping!! : ) Have a beautiful weekend!! xo

  2. JoAnne- I LOVE It! I think there is something novel about stacking pieces like that and the overall 'feel' it creates. It is homey and welcoming all at once...and the perfect size if you have a narrow entryway.

Hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana

  11. Where did you get all that faux lavender? Could buy real lavender here but is expensive like everything, people act like everything has gold running thru it.
Your lavender looks so pretty in bucket. We used to make several different designs of small little stools and benches like yours when we lived in MT. Was one of best sellers.
We still have 3 or 4 of couple different sizes and colors, they're so versatile.Yours look so cute stacked, you do that so well. We us bigger one in our room for taking shoes off and on,hubs made it for me for anniversary in MT. They last forever made out of pine. Maybe we should make them again to sell.

    Hope you have wonderful week

  13. I hope this finds you and yours doing well. May we display your header on our new site directory? As it is now, the site title (linked back to its home page) is listed, and we think displaying the header will attract more attention. In any event, we hope you will come by and see what is going on at SiteHoundSniffs.com.

  14. For some strange reason this post didn't come up in my blog reader until now! I LOVE what you've done in your entry. I don't have much of an entry - we walk right into the living room - so I've tried to create the feeling of a small entry area. Your arrangement is an inspiration!

  15. So pretty, JoAnn! In our new house I want to concentrate on having less things that are more beautiful - like you have. :)

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre
