Window Treatments In The Dining Nook

Finally, after 9 years, we have window treatments in our dining nook.
I almost can't believe it.
It's been a challenge finding something I liked that would work
on this very wide (110 inches) window without spending a fortune.
Sorry these pictures aren't so great - it's difficult to get good ones with all the light that comes in.
I guess it's a good problem to have since I love having big windows and lots of natural light.

I found these pinch pleated valances at Ballard Designs.
The fabric is actually the same as some throw pillows I have so
I knew I would like the color.
I did have to cut a couple of them to make them fit the width of the windows exactly.

I chose these faux wood curtain rods that I found at Target.
I really like the contrast of the darker wood.
It was pretty much an all day job, getting the rods up and the valances
hung so everything was even and looked good.
just don't look too closely : )
And don't tell anyone, but I may have used masking tape in a few places
to get everything just right - that's a designer secret ha ha!

Here are a few more shots around the dining area.

Here is my old cupboard door that used to be hung near the refrigerator.
The other side of it is a blue/green color which is the side that was showing before.
I flipped it over and now the more subdued, chippy side is showing.
I'm not sure which side I like better!
We like having our options, right?

I had been putting off and dreading this job so it's nice to be able to cross it off my list.
The same valances are hanging over the two windows in the kitchen so I will show you those soon.

Now on to the next item on my list.
Thanks so much for dropping by.
Have a wonderful day!

  1. I love your new curtains!! So country and cottagey!! Is "cottagey" even a word? : ) That chippy little white table is adorable as are all of your touches. So springy!!! Have a beautiful weekend!! xo

  2. I love your new pleated valances, JoAnne! They look custom made for your big windows. Isn't it nice to finally find just what you want? Your new table in your hallway is a perfect fit, too! Always satisfying to cross those items off your list. :o)

  3. Love your new valances. Very pretty. Have a great weekend.

  4. The valances look great! I love your table and chairs too.

  5. Very pretty, the valances are just right in that room. I love the metal basket with the white pitcher and napkins/silver.

  6. Love the blinds and the valances, JoAnne. I have a hard time dressing windows. I'm very indecisive and since hubby has a heck of a time hanging them, we have to have a professional and it gets expensive.

I love the rest of your pieces...the scale is right up my alley!

  7. Well done, Jo!!!!

They look absolutely perfect in your pretty kitchen!!!

    Have a wonderful week.

  8. Your new curtains are beautiful! I love the pleat and poof action. (I don't know what that's really called.)

  9. JoAnne, Your curtains look so pretty. I just love how you have decorated your home in blues.

  10. Your dining room is really lovely, flooded by natural light. The valances do create a more finished look. The scale on your side table caught my eye!

  11. Your dining room is so pretty and homey. I love your adorable home! I'm linking over from Poofing The Pillows, and I enjoyed reading your feature. I'm your newest follower!

  12. Love how they came out! I always thought I was a "pink" girl but when I see your beautiful "blues", I change my mind :) Thank you for sharing with us on the Art of Home-Making Mondays by Strangers & Pilgrims on Earth.
