Patriotic Decor You Just May Have to Have

The 4th of July is two weeks away so it's not too late to
pick up a couple new cute things to help celebrate the holiday.
Here are a few I think you might like.

Pretty red, white and blue flowers on this grapevine wreath.
The unique flower with the flag print is made of paper.
This would be the perfect welcoming touch on your front door.

Here is some melamine dinnerware with a sort of
distressed or denim blue color.
This would be great for a 4th of July BBQ or just about anytime really.
Melamine is so lightweight and no worries about breakage.

I love the simple star design on these cloth napkins.
They could be used with the melamine dishes above or
 just some plain white plates.

A pretty hand painted pitcher to serve your favorite drink!

Of course every holiday needs a banner.
 Isn't this one cute?

Chunky wooden firecrackers would make a great table display.

I love the unique design on this large wooden star.
You could hang this just about anywhere.

We can never have too many pillows so why not one with a cute
red, white and blue anchor to help celebrate independence day?

These next two little boats would look so cute together
and they could be used all year long too.

Isn't this wooden sign just so sweet?
I may really have to have one of these.

These signs are pretty cute too - oh the decisions!

Did you see anything you can't resist?
Like many of you, I'm trying to simplify and not keep buying
more stuff but I just may have to allow myself one new thing to
celebrate the 4th of July this year.

  2. I haven't been buying anything lately. No room, and I have to pay for the computer I just got recently. I can't believe I don't have one bit of July 4th decor. I love all of these!

  4. Like you, I'm trying to simplify. I do like the World Market banner and napkins - they would be very easy to store and wouldn't take much space! I recently inherited my dear, little mother's July Fourth decorations. As I work through things at her home I'm sorting and deciding what decorations need to find a place in my home. You've inspired me - again! It's time to celebrate and decorate!

  5. I'm very late to check that post... But I'm in love with the big wooden star and the anchor pillow!

A HOUSE ON A LAKE

Many of us dream of having a beach house but when you don't live anywhere near the ocean, a house on a lake might be a more realistic possibility. Lake houses or cabins tend to be a little more rustic and cozy, I think, and there's something to be said for being surrounded by tall trees, the sounds of nature, and possibly a few critters. Here are a few lake houses I found on Houzz.   Some small, some bigger, some more rustic than others. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Blue Kitchen Cabinets

Do you tend to be safe and go neutral  on the cabinetry in your kitchen? I sure do!
I adore the color blue, but I don't know if I would be brave enough to choose blue for my kitchen cabinets.
These inspiration pictures make me think that someday  I might be daring enough!

The blue on the cabinets above is so soft and pretty
that I don't think I would tire of it.

This one is more of an aqua blue.
Doesn't it look cute with the bright accent colors?

And here is a very bold peacock blue.
It's beautiful but I think you would have to be
very gutsy to choose this color.

Another soft, soothing blue.

Love this cheerful shade of blue especially with the
wooden knobs and other wood elements.
source This is just a cutie pie little kitchenette maybe
for an apartment or guest cottage so I think
the decision would be a little easier.
(If one were lucky enough to have a guest cottage!)

I like this with the dark countertops, too.

PETER RABBIT & BEATRIX POTTER

Oh Peter, why can't you be a good little bunny
like Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail?

Beatrix Potter wrote and illustrated The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
The book was first published in 1902.
It has certainly stood the test of time,
being a favorite of young children for decades.

Did you know that you can tour
Beatrix Potter's home, Hill Top, near Cumbria, England?
Beatrix left Hill Top to the National Trust
and it has been kept just as it was then.
