A LITTLE PAINTED TABLE

I recently bought my second ever can of Annie Sloan chalk paint.
This time I bought Coco.
I used it to makeover this little table at the end of the hall by our master bedroom.

Here is what it looked like before.

I painted the main part of the table with ASCP Old White
and the drawer fronts with the Coco.

I was surprised when the drawer pulls came off in four separate pieces.
I decided to leave off the back plate for a more simple look
and brushed on a little of the old white onto the pulls.

The top was accessorized with a little basket I purchased at the shop where I bought the paint.
Of course I couldn't go in there and only buy the paint, could I?
I like how my porcelain birds look in it.

Now don't be jealous, but I also added my huge collection of 5 old thread spools.
The one marked "Sox" was our kitty's toy but not anymore ~ sorry Sox!

I don't think you can buy anything for 15 cents anymore
and
what in the world does FAST TO BOILING mean?

I really love how soft and smooth this paint feels
after a light sanding.

Now, every time I walk to our bedroom, I enjoy
seeing my little table with its new look.

THE END

PS   ~   Thanks for coming by!

  11. Hi Joann, your pretty table makeover caught my eye over at the Share Your Cup Thursday party. Great job with this table! Coco is one of the few ASCP colors I haven't tried yet. You've inspired me to buy some during my next trip to my supplier.

  12. Hi Joann,
I love how pretty you made your table. It looks so nice just outside your bedroom. Love the colors.

  13. Table is awesome. As for the spools, I love those! BTW, "Fast to Boiling" meant the thread would keep it's color (color-fast) even if the garment was boiled. In the old, old days, they used tubs over a fire to clean clothes. At least that's what I recall my mom saying...she's gone now, but she was born in 1919 and she said laundry was torture!

  14. Susan ~ Thank you for clearing up that mystery. Makes perfect sense now. I can't imagine doing laundry like that and to think I complain about doing it now with a wonderful washer and dryer. I think we have no idea how hard people worked back then!

  16. Your little table came out so sweet. It's always fun to change up a piece of furniture - makes you feel like you got a new piece. Its so hard to find those old wooden spools. I used to have a few from sewing, but not sure they are around anymore.

  17. Your little cabinet is darling either way. But it's fun to change things up now and then. I love old spools and they are great conversational pieces! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  19. You did a beautiful job with this. I have a cabinet that is very similar to this but with five drawers. I stare at it constantly wondering what I can do to make it prettier. It has a bad paint job on it from the previous owners that I rummaged it from. Thanks for giving me some incentive to finally work on it!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!! : )

  29. I've just 'found' you! I love seeing your wonderful home and you inspire me. I just bought my first sample pot of Annie Sloan Old White. Your little table reminds me of one that is right beside my chair. Did you wax the table after you painted it? It is wonderful. I may have to get my paint and brush out and transform my little table. I'll be back often to visit and see what you have to share.

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th
