What Mom Does On The First Day Of School

Today was the first day of school for my kids so I did what
any self-respecting Mom does when their kids head back to school.
I made a trip to Homegoods of course!
I was just going to stay home and clean but the lure of
Homegoods only 10 minutes away just kept taunting me.

The temptation was too great so I went and came home with
two items that I just can't seem to ever resist.

A nice sized white pitcher . . .

and a white wire basket.

For now I placed both of them on my little bench in the foyer.

Tomorrow they may end up somewhere else.  : )

Maybe I will stay home and clean tomorrow . . . maybe.

As always, thanks so much for visiting ~

  1. I would have bought both of those.

I am glad that Home Goods is a 40 minute drive or I would drop in all the time.

  2. They look great. You can never go wrong with a basket and white pitcher. School started here last week, when I went it was always after labor day.

  3. They look AWESOME!

Were you at the one on 23 by any chance? We may have been there around the same time and didn't even know it. : - )

  8. I am so jealous of both your prizes from Home Goods. Am afraid if we went to Salt Lake or Denver I'd go crazy at all the great stores in both towns. Think I'd rather go to Salt Lake than Denver, hate that ride over mountains, people drive like maniacs. I love, absolutely crave, white pitchers and wire baskets are another crave of mine. Hubs will say " why do you need another wire basket"? Need has nothing to do with anything. Love your vignette on bench, we make those benches and other styles of them.
Now that's what I would say is a smart woman, When in doubt, go to Home goods, oh if we only had one. Don't have Home Goods, IKEA or World Market. Do have Pier One but not as easy to find really good bargains there as other stores might have. I've been enjoying Target but you have to be there often to score good deals as they go quick. Our Target in Grand Junction doesn't have cute stuff in $1 bins either. If they do they're long gone by time I get to go there. We live out few miles from G.J. so going to town isn't something we do all the time or that often. Happy week

  9. Great finds! I don't have a HomeGoods where I live but when I'm in a town that has one I have to make a pit stop. I love that white pitcher. I'd like to invite you to share some of your posts at my Inspiration Thursday link party this week. I hope to see you there!

  12. I love home goods. I just went there today and all the shelves were kinda empty. Guess they are waiting for a huge shipment. Yeah! Only 10 minutes away so I definitely will stop back.

  14. The perfect place to visit with your new found alone time!! You certainly can't go wrong with a white pitcher and wire basket either!! Enjoy them both and enjoy these back-to-school days. Our schools don't open again for another few weeks so I'm still in the thick of it. Had some time alone today for the first time in a week and made a trip to The Christmas Tree Shoppe. I could go nuts in that store but exhibited self control for a change. : ) xo

  17. I love your new finds! I completely understand the lure of HomeGoods calling your name. I have one about 20 minutes from my house.

  18. HomeGoods would definitely be a big temptation, and I adore your purchases! My close friends and I always went out to breakfast on the first day of school. We had truly missed the camaraderie of simple friendship and chatter, after a summer filled with swimming lessons, family vacations and all the other myriad of things that kept us all so busy. Besides, HomeGoods didn't even exist way back then!

  19. Thanks for stopping by my blog. In looking back through your older posts, I see all the photos from your fabulous trip to Europe. I lived in Germany for a while as a kid, so I particularly enjoyed those. Some of your London pictures look very similar to some of ours from several years ago. Guess we tourists hit the same high spots!

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre

AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone, One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable. That is one of the main things that I am always on the hunt for and sometimes I have to come up with some creative ideas. Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a  white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy . The Graphics Fairy I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that  I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the simple white frame. I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom. I'm making a few small changes in there and I will show you when it's completed. This star is actually from the garden section of our local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and I spray painted it white. I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards. This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my  cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.  I love th
