AFFORDABLE WALL DECOR

Hi Everyone,

One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating
is finding wall decor that I like and is also affordable.
That is one of the main things that I am always on the
hunt for and sometimes I have to come up
with some creative ideas.

Just yesterday, I found this beautiful image of a
white hydrangea at The Graphics Fairy.

The Graphics Fairy

I printed it out in a size that would fit in a frame that
I already had.  I think it looks so pretty in the
simple white frame.

I'm probably going to hang it in our bedroom.
I'm making a few small changes in there and I will
show you when it's completed.

This star is actually from the garden section of our
local Meijer store.  It was originally silver metal and
I spray painted it white.

I have seen a lot of people decorate with bread boards.
This one fit perfectly in the narrow space between my
cabinet and window and I love the warmth of the wood.

I love this frame that I found at Target and I removed a picture
from another frame that's not really my style anymore.
I really like how it turned out.

The little plate hanging below is great too because
I can change out the ribbon to coordinate with different
 items or for holiday decorating.

This picture is actually a greeting card that I saw at the
grocery store one day.  I thought it was so pretty
and luckily it fit perfectly in this frame that
my Mom had given me.

I do love to decorate with plates and this is one of my favorites.
For me, many times it's easier to find plates that I like than things that
are actually suppose to be for your walls.
Anytime I see pretty plates at yard sales or thrift stores,
I scoop them right up.

This has been hanging in my kitchen for awhile.
The hydrangea is from our bushes last summer and it has
dried in the little pitcher hanging on a hook.
The leaf is actually molded around the edge.

We all know Homegoods is a source of affordable
pictures and signs like this one with
the raspberries.

And of course I adore things like my chippy window
that I showed you the other day.
I think things that are old and have character make great wall
decor and I would like to have more things like that.

So the search will go on and
that is the fun of it, right?

~ any excuse to go shopping ~

I hope your week is starting out great ~ I'm so glad you came by!

  1. Lovely choices - the raspberries is my fave! I agree with you on it being difficult to find affordable art - it's why I began painting my own pictures in the first place and now I love painting!!

    Enjoy your pretty wall hangings.

  3. Where to start...I love them all! Your graphics fairy hydrangea is so pretty in the white frame and the bread board...love it hanging there! So clever to use a greeting card as art and plates hanging on the wall are charming. Everything looks so pretty and without breaking the bank...you are so smart!
Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

  4. All so pretty, I have a bread board which belonged to my grandmother. I'm trying to think of something to do with, keeping it like it is, but decorating it in a fun and whimsical way. Yours is simple and lovely. Hydrangea? I cut some of ours off last year, it keeps very well. I like your window too. I have one, but yours looks thinner and easier to work with. Mine is rather heavy..and the glass is in it too. I'd love to do something with that as well. Some much fun deocorating and keeping is simple with a twist of vintage.:)

  5. You have so many cute things for your walls, and all my taste! I'm always looking for plates and I often change out pictures in frames. I think it's great how you printed out the hydrangea for the frame and what a great idea using pictures from greeting cards, some are absolutely beautiful! And the window...sigh! :) This post gives me so many ideas!!

  12. I love everything you featured in this post. Such pretty and homey choices. Your home is lovely. You gave me a great idea with the ribbon on that lacey plate.
I print out things quite often from Graphics Fairy to put into frames I've gotten at thrift stores, ones I've had, etc. Recently I printed out the bee skeps, bee and hives, and put them in aqua painted frames with aqua paper for a mat. I can change things out that way and not spend much at all. I sure go thru much ink for printer but it's still a whole lot better than having to buy art. I can have what I want when I want it as long as my ink cartridges hold out and I can find the frame in stash.
Love your blog, you inspire me every time. Happy days

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the...

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased...
