Do you like yellow?
I've always loved how sunny and cheerful it is.

Don't you love it on the front door of this sweet little cottage?

So gorgeous on this iron bed ~ it's like a happy surprise in the bedroom.

Even a whole house can look lovely in yellow.

This room just exudes sunshine.

It's a perfect color for farmhouse style furniture
 like this linen cabinet . . .

. . . and this cute dresser.

I like how yellow is used as an accent in this room along
with the other soft tones.

I think it would take a lot of guts to paint your cabinets yellow but I
think it looks stunning here with the dark countertop and hardware.

This would be such a cheerful spot for breakfast ~ I like the little
touches of dark brown/black sprinkled around too.

I had to throw this in just because it's so darn cute!!

I don't have any yellow in my house right now ~
I may just have to change that!

Is yellow a color for you?

~ JoAnne

  1. I think that details in yellow can change a room. Yes, I have some details .

  2. Love these image. Brightened up my overcast day!!

  3. Someone in our neighborhood just painted their front door yellow and it is so precious. Makes me smile every time I look at their house now. Thanks for sharing.

  4. our kitchen cabinets are yellow :) ...but a little more pale

  5. Thanks for the smile and sunshine today! I really like that kitchen. It looks like the walls may be gray.

  6. Yellow has been my favorite color until I started liking all of them the same

  7. So cheerful!! Love this post!!

  8. I love all your yellow rooms/houses. The entire interior of my tiny cottage is painted Provence Yellow. It is a light buttery shade. I learned the hard way about not going to bright. When we bought our first house I painted our bedroom YELLOW like the color of the brass bed. It was perfect on the paint chip, but oh, way too bright on the walls. I remember always going into the room to turn off the light, but it was off and the brightness was just the color and the sun shining in.

  9. You have sure made me think about yellow differently. I've always liked it but haven't used it much for awhile. I do have soft varied yellow curtains in our room. I kind of like them as they keep the room warmer in winter and cooler in summer. I put good lining in them when I made them.
I just loved all the rooms you showed. I even liked the idea of yellow kitchen cupboards but don't think it would work in our house. Will you be putting any yellow in your home? I'll look forward to hearing about it and seeing it. Happy Days

  10. Hi JoAnne,

I LOVE yellow, too! It IS so bright and cheery and warm and fresh! I am just smiling ear to ear with your first photo of the little yellow door!! How cute is that?!!

    Poppy :)

  11. Hermosa entrada, me encanta el amarillo porque es un color muy alegre! Muy bueno tu blog.

  12. I do like yellow. At the moment, I don't have any in my house either. I used to have a lot of it though. My foyer was once painted yellow! Now, I like it in small doses. Oh, wait. I do have some yellow in my kitchen. The bananas! LOL!

  13. Gorgeous! My kitchen and hallway are both yellow. Kitchen wallpaper is yellow and blue daisies then yellow vintage accents throughout room with blue cupboards. My kitchen is my happy place! I recently purchased yellow paint for my computer room too! Love your post, I will have to pin some of these pics..probably all!

Blue Kitchen Cabinets 2017

I have done a couple posts on kitchens with blue cabinetry in the past, after all it is my favorite color. It has been awhile though, so today I have rounded up some more  amazing kitchens with cottage style that also incorporate blue in  the design. source The kitchen above and the one below have white upper cabinets and soft shades of blue on the lower ones. This is a nice way to use blue without going overboard or ending up with something that you would get tired of quickly. source source Finding the right shade of blue would be key and using a lot of white and wood tones along with it creates a beautiful and timeless look. source source Isn't the kitchen above just so very unique? It has sort of a french country feeling but in an updated way. Wish there was a better picture of the script that's on the wall  on the right. source This kitchen is from Remodelondo la Casa and I've always thought the w

Family Room Reveal

Hello Everyone! I've been meaning to post about our updated family room for a very long time and I'm  finally doing it - yeah!! I had been ready to replace our brown leather furniture for a while and when a new Ikea opened very close to us last summer, I jumped at the chance to take a good look at their slipcovered furniture. Originally the plan was to buy another sofa and loveseat like we had but when I  saw the Ektorp sectional on the showroom floor at Ikea, I was sold.   It just seemed so cozy and I could really envision it in our family room. As you can see, we purchased the sectional with the white slipcover. You just can't beat the prices at Ikea and the quality is definitely good enough for us. I'm at a point where I don't want to buy expensive furniture that I feel like I have to keep forever.   We even had the sofa delivered and they took away the old sofa and loveseat  for a very small fee. We purchased this dre
